
Low Vision Senior
Low Vision Senior is an initiative by Vision Rehabilitation | SEC dedicated to introducing and promoting vision rehabilitation services for older adults in Greece, for the first time.
Vision loss among seniors is one of the most overlooked rehabilitation challenges in Greece. Until now, there have been no structured vision rehabilitation services to help older adults adapt to vision changes and maintain independence.
Low Vision Senior, launched by Vision Rehabilitation | SEC, changes that reality.
This pioneering initiative raises awareness about vision rehabilitation, educates families and professionals and connects seniors with new opportunities to live fully, with dignity, safety and confidence.

Low Vision Senior
The Low Vision Senior logotype is inspired by the handwriting of elderly users writing with CCTV and other low-vision tools.

Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD)
Age-Related Macular Degeneration causes central vision loss because of damage to the macula, the central part of the retina responsible for sharp vision.

Glaucoma
Glaucoma leads to "silent" peripheral vision loss, caused by a progressive optic nerve damage, often associated with increased eye pressure.

Cataract
Cataract is clouding of the eye's natural lens, leading to blurry vision, glare and faded colors.

Diabetic Retinopathy
Diabetic Retinopathy is a damage to retinal vessels due to long-term diabetes and can cause sudden dark spots, floaters or complete vision loss.

Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA)
Posterior Cortical Atrophy is often considered an atypical variant of Alzheimer's disease causing difficulty recognizing objects or faces (visual agnosia), problems with reading, writing and using tools, trouble judging distances or navigating spaces, difficulty perceiving multiple objects at once (simultanagnosia), problems with depth perception, spatial disorientation (getting lost, bumping into things) and visual field defects or unexplained "blurred vision" despite normal eye exams.

Stroke
Stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is suddenly interrupted or when a blood vessel in the brain bursts. Stroke can cause visual field loss like hemianopia or quadrantanopia, double vision (diplopia), blurred vision, vision processing problems like difficulty recognizing faces (prosopagnosia), trouble judging depth or navigating spaces, neglect of one side of space (visual neglect), eye movement disorders and photophobia or light sensitivity.
