Low Vision Literacy
Redefining Access to Reading and Writing for individuals with Low Vision in Greece

For the first time in Greece, Vision Rehabilitation | SEC launches Low Vision Literacy, an awareness and intervention campaign dedicated to access to reading and writing for people with low vision.

Low vision does not mean the end of reading. With appropriate assessment, evidence-based strategies and modern assistive technologies, reading and writing can remain essential parts of education, employment and everyday life. Low Vision Literacy addresses the needs of children, adults and seniors with visual impairment who rely on their remaining vision.

The campaign promotes:
-
Evidence-based reading techniques for individuals with low vision
-
Improved reading speed, accuracy and endurance
-
Effective use of magnification and assistive devices
-
Optimization of contrast, lighting, text presentation and ergonomics
-
Development of functional reading and writing strategies for real-world demands

More than a service, Low Vision Literacy represents a step toward inclusion, accessibility and equal participation. By introducing this campaign in Greece, a critical gap in vision rehabilitation is addressed, supporting lifelong learning, independence and quality of life.

Reading and writing are human rights. Literacy must be accessible.
